Welcome to The Retreat

The Retreat was founded in 1986 and has become synonymous with offering the best available beauty products and treatments. Originally based in the Oasis Health Club, it was bought in 2016 by local entrepreneurs Elaine and Michael Bass, who many will know as a popular local builder.

The Retreat is now very much a family affair, with Michael and Elaine’s daughter, Louise, managing the beauty salon, having started her career in the industry as a 16-year-old Saturday girl.

In May 2017, the business relocated to a new, more visible location next to one of Grimsby’s busiest thoroughfares, yet still offers the ultimate in peace and tranquility, which is what The Retreat is all about.

Come and see us! As well as the warmest of welcomes, you will be met by faces old and new. Many customers will know Tally, the longest-serving member of our team who has developed a loyal following of clients, Louise who runs the show, and Licia, the newest member of our small, but professional team.

With the focus very much on a friendly, family feel, Louise’s dad Michael is often on hand, hanging the latest certificates, fixing door handles or changing light bulbs in his inimitable style . . . but always keeping his distance from the beauty treatments!

We offer a wide range of specialist high quality products and treatments tailored to each client’s individual needs. Our peaceful beauty salon has three fully equipped, tranquil treatment rooms and a fourth room used exclusively for our MineTan Spray Tanning. In addition, we also have an area specifically designed for manicures and pedicures, so you can enjoy total relaxation while having your nails buffed to perfection. Our exclusive party area is available for hen parties, baby showers, mums-to-be and birthday treats for groups.

Men and women of all ages are welcome, and we offer a NHS discount of 15% to all NHS staff for treatments costing £10 or more. This special discount is also available for employees of St Hugh’s, Grimsby Institute, and North East Lincolnshire Council.
